12th Sunday After Pentecost(Tridentine Latin Mass)

31 Aug

This is also the 22nd In Ordinary Time and 12th Sunday After Pentecost in the Byzantine Rite.
But, in the Tridentine Latin Mass, the Gospel entailed the story of “The Good Samaritan.”
Jesus is being engaged in questions by a Lawyer, about loving his neighbor.
For a Jewish Man was robbed on a journey. He was bleeding on the Road  A Jewish Priest didn’t help him. A Levite didn’t help him. Now, according to the Old Law, both would have to go through Purification Ceremonies just to be able to worship at Temple.
But, a Samaritan came down the same road, took him to an Inn, laid out some cash and treated him.

“The Good Samaritan” speaks of Jesus, calling us to Radically changing ourselves, for The Sake of The Kingdom of God.

I was at the R C Church of St Agnes on Archbishop Fulton J Sheen Place(E43rd Street), Home to the 1st Tridentine Latin Mass to come out of The Catacombs.
Midtown Manhattan has never been the same. Both Bishop Sheen and Fr George W. Rutler have preached the Good Friday  Homily at St Agnes. Both have originated television shows on DuMont, ABC and EWTN from this Parish.

Even though I had Bursitis Style Pain, I was happy to be in the Parish, where Mom was Baptized.

Deo Gratias!

Theories On Pope Francis I’s Hostility Toward Those Who Want The TLM

30 Aug

In the theory or theories of The Current Pope’s Hostility Towards Traditional Minded Catholics who prefer the Tridentine Latin Mass, I do offer my observations on the subject. Please Note that these are my observations and theories.

My 1st Observation concerns Jotge Mario Bergoglio’s Youth, when he was Altar Server at a Ukrainian Greek Catholic Parish in Buenos Aires, Capital City of Argentina. There was a Sizeable Ukrainian Diaspora in Argentina. When The Ukrainian Greek Catholics came to Argentina, they were deprived of their Priests on the orders of The Roman Catholic Primate of Argentina, who wanted these Ukrainian Catholics to assimilate into the Roman Rite Church.
Apparently, in the case of The Roman Rite Primate, with the title of Cardinal, perhaps operating according to the Americanist Heresy of Certain Irish Born or Irish Diaspora US Bishops, of which Archbishop John Ireland and James Cardinal Gibbons certainly come to mind, this is probably When the Young Jorge Mario Bergoglio may have developed a certain animus toward the Latin Rite, as if it was “A 40 Stone(800 Pound) Gorilla”, who believes herself to be under attack, accusing any other Rite of The Church of being “Less than Catholic”, despite the Union of Brest-Livotsk in 1596, bringing Ukrainian Orthodox Christians back into Full Communion with The Holy See, with their Customs and Practices.
It is true that, often, the Latin Rite Bishops had trouble recognizing Eastern Catholic Churches, particularly from the Byzantine Rite. Byzantine Rite Catholic Churches, while united to the Holy See, recognizing the Pope as Vicar of Christ in this World, did struggle a lot with the Much Larger Latin or Roman Rite.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio was in a Jesuit Seminary in the 1960s, when the Jesuits were becoming “A Fifth Column”, instead of The Defenders of Catholic Doctrine. By the time of Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s Ordination to the Priesthood as a Jesuit, the Tridentine Form of The Mass, vernacularized, moved over to the Novus Ordo Missae. He has never offered the Tridentine Latin Mass. But, he gained faculties to offer the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgies of St John Chrysostom and St Basil The Great, due to his orientation towards the Byzantine Rite. One could today, say that he is the 1st Ukrainian Pope, despite his Northern Italian Bloodlines.

He is an Ecumenical Vatican II Catholic Primate. What more can I say!

Thus the theories put forth are from my observations.

Kyrie Elaison!

Ukrainian Catholic Major Archbishop Shevchuk On Pope Francis I

29 Aug

It has been reported that though Jorge Mario Bergoglio, of Northern Italian Bloodlines, was raised in the Roman Rite, he did serve as an Altar Server in his young age at a Ukrainian Greek Catholic Parish in Buenos Aires, at the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom and St Basil The Great.
As a Jesuit, he has Faculties to offer the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom and St Basil The Great. Now these are two Ancient Catholic Church Liturgies, which are older in form than the Tridentine Latin Mass. In both cases, when the Priest offers these Liturgies, he faces Liturgical East.
So, Papam Franciscum I, when ordained as a Priest, never offered the Tridentine Latin Mass, but only the Mass of Paul VI.
Hence, he may have more of an Eastern Catholic Church Orientation than one may have known.
This was reported by the former Ukrainian Catholic Bishop of Buenos Aires, Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, now headquartered in Kviv(Kiev), Ukraine, who knows Papum Franciscum I from his days of being Archbishop of Buenos Aires, who doubled as Apostolic Administrator of The Byzantine Catholic See in Argentina.

In effect, we have a Byzantine Pope.

Kyrie Elaison!

If there is a couple of things I have learned, it is that the Latin and Byzantine Rites do complement one another, Liturgically.
This is especially true when the Ordinary Form of The Mass is offered. The Prayers of The Faithful-General Intercessions are variations of the Litanies of the Antiphons in the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom and the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St Basil The Great, both of which are variations of The Divine Liturgy of St James The Apostle.

The Latin(Roman)Rite tends to be more Legalistic, as the Extraordinary Form of The Mass, called The Tridentine Latin Mass(Eastern Term is the Divine Liturgy of St Pius V), shows with two recitations of The Confiteor & More Formula in the Prayers, while the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy is more Litany and Antiphonal in approach.
As the Good Franciscan Priest put it to me after the Sacrament of Penance, that while the Latin Rite is the Legalistic Approach, the Byzantine Rite takes a more Holistic Approach.
I believe that I will continue to worship in both Rites.

Credo In Unum Deo
Kyrie Elaison

What Was It With R C Archbishops Vs The Eastern Catholics

28 Aug

When The Ukrainian Greek Catholics went to Argentina, they were deprived of their Priests, in 1912, by the Roman Rite Archbishop of Buenos Aires, who wanted Assimilation, American Style.

Ukrainian Greek Catholics then went into schism and became Orthodox Christians.

It sounds like Archbishop John Ireland had influence in South America.

I will say that I and other Traditional Catholics are grateful that the American R C Bishops did not get their way in trying to expel the Byzantine Rite Catholics. While the American Roman Catholic Bishops found ways to all but utterly forbid the Tridentine Latin Mass, there were the Byzantine Rite Catholics Churches with the Ancient and Beautiful Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, a Liturgy often attended by Traditional Latin Rite Catholics.

Kyrie Elaison!

Heading To Penance & To Mass In Latin

28 Aug

I need it and need it BADLY.
1st is the Sacrament of Penance, then a trip to Holy Innocents R C Church on W37th Street for The Venerable Practice of The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass.
It should keep me away from the Nasty Temptations which one suffers through, including anything Erotic.

I read today’s Gospel as this is the Feast of Saint Augustine, Bishop, Confessor and Doctor of The Church. The Gospel According to St. Matthew says it all as The Christ says that a City on a Mountain cannot be Hidden, that a Lit Lamp gives Light and should not be Hidden under a Barrel. Those who violate even the smallest law will be Least in the Kingdom of Heaven.

St. Paul in his Epistle to Timothy, writes of Preaching The Word In Truth. He also speaks of his own demise, which is imminent.

Santa Maria, Madre De Dios, Ruega Por Nosotros Peccadores!
