A Solution To Women In The Sanctuary A Proposal

16 Aug

I grew up in the Latin Rite Catholic Church. Then, certain practices changed at the Holy Sacrifice of The Mass. Instead of The Roman Rite Practice of Kneeling for Holy Communion, Standing, which is a Byzantine Rite Practice, became the Norm. In the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, there is a Chant of Warning to Holy Communicants and it is “Approach In Fear of The Lord & With Faith.” Note that no such chant is spoken in the Ordinary Form Mass, though the Communion Antiphon is spoken or sung(Sometimes in Latin).

The Byzantine Rite Catholic has long used Women as Cantors and Readers, but they perform this from the Nave, NOT The Sanctuary. The Same goes for the Men. ONLY The Priest appears, along with the Deacon in The Sanctuary plus the Altar Boys. In addition the Cantor/Lector, faces Ad Orientum(East), just like the Congregation. The Priest faces the same way, except when reading the Gospel.

A Solution is Proposed. A Seat with light and Microphone in the 1st Row Pew is fine. A Leader leads Forward towards God. So does a Priest in both the Tridentine Latin Mass and the Byzantine Catholic Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom and the Byzantine Catholic Divine Liturgy of St Basil The Great. The Sanctuary is NOT a Place For the Laity during Mass.

Kyrie Elaison!
