10th Sunday After Pentecost

18 Aug

If One has the Faith of a Mustard Seed, a seed which while tiny, it can grow the biggest of Trees, One can do the Works of Faith.
Do not judge merely the Man or Woman, but by their Fruits, you shall know them.
This is from the Holy Gospel According to The Apostle, St Matthew.
Thirty Years Ago, in the R C Archdiocese of Detroit, in Detroit Proper, there was a Catholic Priest, who given the Gift Of Healing by The Holy Spirit. He laid Hands on the Heads of People, who stated that they were cured of their Illnesses.
Many People called this Priest a Miracle Worker(Wonder Worker is the Eastern Term). Yet, there were others who wondered if this power was Satanically Granted.
He had to answer to his superiors at the R C Archdiocese of Detroit. He humbly answered that this isn’t his own Power, but that of Jesus Christ and the Deep Faith of those calling on Christ.
I was NOT in a “Church of Nice” Parish. I was at the Byzantine Rite Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of St. George in Manhattan’s East Village. It is a Parish of The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Eparchy of Stamford, CT. The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass is called The Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom.
St. John Chrysostom, when he was Patriarch of Constantinople, was NOT the Bishop of The Church of Nice, not even by a long shot. Because The Arian Heresy was in full swing, when even the Pope was ensnared into the Heretical Belief that The Christ was ONLY a Truly Perfect Man, St. John Chrysostom was fighting this battle. He coined the sentence “The Road to Hell is paved with the Skulls of Bishops.”

If Only One has the Faith of the size of a Mustard Seed, this is Food For Thought and For The Soul.
For the Caananite Woman, who, though thought to be a Gentile, whose Daughter was Gravely Ill, she demonstrated Great Faith in Jesus’ Power to heal the Daughter.

“Praise Be Jesus Christ, Now & Forever”
