The 13th Sunday After Pentecost(Byzantine Rite)

7 Sep

This Year’s Byzantine Rite Catholic Church Calendar from February, nicely corresponds with The Roman Rite Catholic Calendar of The Tridentine Latin Mass, but the Epistle and Gospel, correspond with the Ordinary Form Mass Epistle and Gospel.
For in The Gospel Cycle, it is according to Saint Matthew The Apostle, while the Epistle is according to Saint Paul The Apostle.
So, I shall wash myself thoroughly, eat and head off to the Sunday Obligation of the 4:00PM Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom at St. George Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy will be resplendent in Glory and will be in the Vernacular of NYC, meaning that it will be offered in English-language.
In the words of The Redoubtable Father Joseph F Wilson, a Most Noted Latinist, there is no such thing as a Low Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy.
The Most Holy Sacrament of The Altar, The Holy Eucharist, IS offered here and Holy Communion is The Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, under the Appearance of Leavened Bread to represent the Risen Christ and Wine.
One appears before the Priest(The Alter Christus) and receives “With Fear of The Lord and With Faith”, while standing, as if at One’s Judgement, having bowed profoundly before going before The Sacrament, and with one’s head tilted back and mouth opened, one receives Holy Communion from the Priest via Gold Plated Holy Communion Spoon.
Absolutely NO Silly Music on the Lines of Dan Schutte, Marty Haugen and Company, who write “Hallmark Cards” Music(With Apologies to Hallmark Cards, which has better quality than Haugen, Haas and Schutte Muzak). Rather, the various Litanies of The Mass are sung.
This will be my way of Thanking God, Who Is All Good.

Tomorrow Evening, a Tridentine Latin Mass at 7PM, at Saint Matthias R C Church will be offered, a couple of Bus Lines away. I pray to be there at 58-15 Catalpa Avenue, just away from Seneca Avenue.
This Mass was put in place by the Brooklyn Born, Ridgewood, Queens raised Pastor, Monsignor Edward Bernard Scharfenberger, now Bishop of The R C Diocese of Albany, NY.

Deo Gratias!
