22nd Sunday After Pentecost(Ukrainian Catholics)

10 Nov

Lazarus and the Rich Man(St. Luke’s Gospel):

As it was explained in the Homily for The Gospel According to Saint Luke, the Rich Man is said to represent the Pharisees.

Lazarus was in suffering, poor and Patient, seeking The Lord God, while the Fancy Rich Man, The Pharisee, lived only for Himself and the World, never caring for the poor, and others. The Pharisee lived only for his circle, his Political Connections, whatever was for his own advantage, kicking others to the curb.

When Lazarus died, he went to the Bosom of Abraham. The Pharisee went to a Place of Torment, for he never gave a thought about The Next World.

The Pharisee may have dressed up in Fine Clothing, but he forgot about Grace.

A Good Homily, as always by the Very Reverend Father Bernard Panczuk, OSBM at the 4:00PM Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom at St George Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Manhattan, was spoken well.

Deo Gratias!

M, Eh!
