“Decisions, Decisions” On Mass

14 Dec

Since the Porcelain Throne has been where I have been seated this morning, I am out of Tridentine Latin Mass Options.
However, I do know how to avoid Novus Ordo Masses which play such music as “Maple Sugar Candy Barf” and “Come And Have A Couple Of Beers.”
At 4PM, the Byzantine Option in the Byzantine Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of St. George in the East Village of Manhattan on East 7th Street by Mc Soreley’s Ale House, may be exercised with The Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, in English, in the 27th Sunday After Pentecost(Julian Calendar). Byzantine Chant is rather beautiful and this Mass is penitential & Sacrificial in nature.

There is a Novus Ordo Mass at 5:10PM at St Agnes on East 43rd Street(Venerable Archbishop Fulton J Sheen Place), where the Entrance and Communion Antiphons are sung in Latin. Today, on the Gregorian Calendar, it is 3rd Sunday Of Advent.

The “Music” of Dan Schutte(Another Reason Why Today’s Jesuits Are in need of Being Suppressed), Marty Haugen, David Haas and Bob Hurd, will not be sung at either Parish. The “Hymn” called “Maple Sugar Candy Barf”(A title culled from a Dear Friend, who utterly despises this “Novus Ordo Mass Muzak” with “A Purple Passion”), will be sung in neither Parish.

Either Way, the Mass will be for God’s Glory and Grace.

Kyrie Elaison!
