All Saints Day Tridentine Latin Mass & A “Marathon”

2 Nov

As My Most Dear Friend says, to which I heartily concur, the Liturgical Muzak at the Missa Novus Ordo, is Treacly and “Does NOT Draw In.” And so, as I make my journey via the IND Queens Blvd 6th Avenue F Train, running as a Local, I am making my way to Holy Innocents RC Church in Midtown Manhattan on West 37th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue, in order to avoid the Treacly Musical Creature called “Pukeasaurus Rex.” “Table Of Plenty” does not cut it, in English, nor Latin, as it is “Pure Schutte”, as in a former member of the St. Louis Jesuits, writers of Treacly Muzak, which could lead to rather lengthy queues at Parish Vomitaria, with varying waiting times.
After Mets 2nd Baseman Dan Murphy’s Imitation of Red Sox 1st Baseman Bill Buckner at Citi Field in Game 4 of the 2015 World Series, queues at the Citi Field Vomitariums were lengthy. Buckner at least had a major excuse, in that he was injured. Murphy realized that he is a Free Agent, and may have been careless. Cespides is an oversized Bobby Bonilla Type with little Mobility.
So hence I headed to Holy Innocents & heard Mass in Latin. The Epistle was from The Apocalypse According To St. John Apostle. The Gospel According to St. Matthew was The Beatitudes. Fr Leonard Villa, Pastor, offered the Mass.
As FOX Sports has a Super Day of Sports on the Schedule, with an NFL Game in London, UK at 9:30AM EST(The Clocks Went back an hour), at 1PM with the NY Football Giants & 4:15PM with Dallas, followed by Game 5 of the 2015 World Series between the NY Mets & KC Royals from Citi Field in Corona, Queens, beginning at 8PM Eastern, it will be a long haul for FOX Sports. As this is the 1st Sunday in November, ESPN is carrying the NYC Marathon at 10AM EST.

At 10:30AM EST, an Ecclesiastical Marathon occurred at Holy Innocents RC Church in Midtown Manhattan on West 37th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue, as it was The Tridentine Latin Mass for All Saints Day, lasting from 10:30AM to 12Noon, The Angelus in English, followed by a Coffee Hour which stretched until 2:30PM, followed by The Rosary(In English), Vespers for All Saints Day(Latin), and Vespers For All Souls Day in Latin.
Yes, The Race was long, but I am glad to have completed it. And I am Tired.
Deo Gratias!

On TBS Via RSN Via Ustream

22 Oct

Never did the NY Mets trail in a Game at any time during the National League Championship Series versus the Chicago Cubs. They even beat Jon Lester, once of the Red Sox under Theo Epstein. Epstein is now the Cubs General Manager.
Even Theo Epstein had no more Tricks Up his sleeve. This wasn’t the NY Yankees & Boston Red Sox in 2004 in the ALCS. This was Reality. The Chicago Cubs have not been to the World Series since 1945. The Cubs haven’t won the World Series since 1908. TBS, FOX, ESPN & RSN didn’t exist then, either.
And I was able to watch THIS 4th Game of The NLCS on my Mobile Smartphone, viewing Canada’s Rogers Sportsnet’s carriage of the TBS Coverage via Ustream.tv.

NY Mets 8, Chicago Cubs 3 was the Final Score. Funny but the Mets were 0-7 versus the Cubs in the 2015 Regular Season. But, the Cubs totally choked.

The World Series is NEXT On FOX(ESPN & RSN in Canada). Joe Buck, as always, will be his annoying self.

Da, Da, Dot, Da, Da, Dahhhh!

It Was At Giants Stadium As I Remember

10 Aug

It was Soccer Great Pele’s Last Game. Pele'(Edson Arrantes Do Nascimento) received the Most Thunderous of Applause.

But the Game, in The New Jersey Meadowlands, was at a place called Giants Stadium.

The Next Largest Ovation went to RB-WR #16, a Member of The Pro Football Hall Of Fame. He was broadcasting for ABC Sports On That Day.

As there were Numerous NY Football Giants Fans in attendance, that other Thunderous Ovation went to Frank Gifford, whose Giants Heroics spanned the Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium.

And “The Giff” was not forgotten. He died yesterday at home on Greenwich, CT, of Natural Causes, age 84, a Week short of his 85th Birthday.

The Pan American Games On Television

18 Jul

CBC in Canada is Host Broadcaster. US Residents, who live by the Canadian Border & Desire NOT ESPN, can tune into CBC Television, which they most often do.
Their Slogan like with the Olympics is “Mansbridge, NOT Costas.”
Mansbridge is Peter Mansbridge. In the case of Flushing Queens born Bob Costas, the Olympics are NOT a Time to wax Poetic about Elvin Charles “Mickey” Mantle.
But these are the Pan American Games, so one wonders if ESPN will be promoting World Championship Flatulence Emitting from some Subway Station in The Bronx?
So Yanks by the Canadian Border, you are better off with CBC Sports.
Eh!

Planned Buys For Entertainment

14 Jul

MLB At Bat and Skype are my Choices at $2.99 per month. Major League Baseball is entering the Second Half of The Season and it would be a good idea to follow Radio of Red Sox and Mets Games again. Besides I miss the Radio Calls of Joe Castiglione and Howie Rose. Then there is always live telecast feeds on MLB At Bat.

Skype is the next buy, also for $2.99 per month, giving me extra communication power.

Two Bargains!

The Maritimes Are Facing The Brunt Of The Blizzard

28 Jan

Dear New York Metro Area:
With only a foot of Snow, you got off easy.
But New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, well they are getting Walloped by this storm.
One wonders if this is a foretelling of what may occur at Super Bowl XLIX, score Wise.
About a Metre and One Half is expected in those areas.
New England got walloped today. Is this a sign that Belichik and Company will meet a Similar Fate?
The answer is Sunday at 6pm(7:30pm in Newfoundland)until the end of the game.
Meanwhile, New Yorkers got off easy.

J C T S, Just Continue The Season

10 Nov

NY Jets 20
Pittsburgh Steelers 13
NY Jets are 2-8 & have a bye next Sunday.
Unbelievable! They have won a game in an upset in The Meadowlands in New Jersey.

I was at the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom at St George Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the East Village. It was a change of Pace Catholic Church Liturgy. It was Older Than Old School, but it was in English. And it is older than the Tridentine Latin Mass.

And the NY J E T S won at last.

Deo Gratias!
