Sacerdotus: Reflection – Good Friday & Suffering

Doing Things Differently Today

4 Apr

Why shouldn’t I do things a bit differently on this Good Friday? It is a day Where one abstains from Meat. It is a Day of Prayer & for me, Catholic Commentary to be written. It was a Day to discover Catholic Faith Traditions & Locations.
Last Night I prayed the Joyful Mysteries of The Rosary. Early This Morning with Threatening Weather, I prayed The Sorrowful Mysteries of The Rosary.
It has been said that one’s attitude changes with praying The Rosary. It is as if Our Lady is There with You in your quarters.
I then spent some time writing & reading some rather snarky political commentary by Ann Coulter in the online edition of Human Events. Then I digitally penned my blog “A Roaming Catholic & went out to eat.

I am an Honorary Hoosier. Christian Civilization is under attack from Extremely Humanistic Practitioners of Acts from Sodom & Gomorrah. Some of these Practitioners of Sheer Evil, are threatening to annihilate Christian Businesses in Indiana. The State of New York, Home to Il Supremo Due, Governor Andrew Cuomo(Pronounced as Cumo by Rush Limbaugh), is boycotting Indiana, much to the Delight of Certain Residents of Greenwich Village, Jackson Heights and Kew Gardens. But, here is something strange & hypocritical, as Il Supremo Due is headed to Cuba, where Homosexuals are a persecuted minority, which will not look good in Greenwich Village. Il Supremo Due is looking to drum up business for New York State. If he is looking for tourists from Cuba, he has all the chance of a Snowball Fight in Miami Beach at Noon on July 4th. What a Rocket Scientist!

Lord Have Mercy(Kyrie Elaison)!

So with Prior Years, I had marched between St. Thomas Apostle and Holy Child Jesus Parishes in Woodhaven & Richmond Hill, Queens.
There was always the Stations Of The Cross at Holy Child Jesus and have recorded the March for viewing on Vimeo & Dailymotion. There was even Live Coverage on Ustreamtv, not that anybody watched.
But on Good Friday, The Rosary in The Sorrowful Mysteries was done early in the morning.
I decided not to head to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs at Ascan Avenue and Queens Boulevard. I knew of a Small Catholic Parish on Van Wyck Boulevard a few yards away from Hillside Avenue, on the Cusp of Kew Gardens and Briarwood, Queens.
I knew a couple of Priests from there who have since passed on. One of them was Chaplain of Morris Park 566 Knights of Columbus and passed away in the Early 1990s. One of them served at St. Thomas Apostle in Woodhaven, Queens until he was named Pastor of St. Cecelia Parish on the Williamsburg & Greenpoint Order in Brooklyn. He died near the end of 2013 at age 88.

I picked up a Copy of the Bulliten from Our Lady of The Cenacle, which still has a Parochial School attached to the Rear of The Church. The Parochial School was once staffed by the Sisters Of Charity Halifax, an Order which once taught me at St. Sylvester School on Grant Avenue in City Line, Brooklyn. The School was in existence from 1950 until the last decade of this century. The Old School Building is leased to a Special Needs type of High School.

In reading the Bilingual Parish Bulliten, I read the name of the Parish Administrator. This Priest is also familiar To me as he also served at St. Thomas Apostle in Woodhaven, Queens, before being named a Parish Administrator in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Fr Robert Morales is the Parish Administrator. He offered the Mass Of The Presanctified yesterday at 5PM at Our Lady of Cenacle in English. I had called the Rectory and inquired as to when a Good Friday Liturgy would occur.
There was the Reading of The Passion of Jesus Christ according to St. John, Veneration of The Holy Cross & then Holy Communion.
This lasted about an hour.

I was on my way To Moose Lodge 1642 when I stopped at Acey Ducey’s Pub on Metropolitan Avenue at 71st Avenue and partook of some grub and refreshment. And then I headed home.

One can say that I was content to changing the routine a bit.

Una Buena Pascua!

It is Time for Catholics To Go Beyond You Tube

20 Apr

Years ago, it was Public Access Cable Channels. Eventually, it was the World Wide Web. Then came Vimeo in 2004, followed by Dailymotion and then You Tube. Then the Smartphone Revolution came and one could send a Video into Cyberspace from that Smartphone. Apple came out with the iPod Touch and iPad.
Then, Live Video Streaming Networks came into being. One can make a Good News Piece on the spot.
The Evangelical Christians are using Live Video Streaming Networks for their Wednesday Night and Sunday Services. I see this all the time on Veetle, Bambuser and Ustream.

I have yet to see Lay Catholics doing this. They usually head to You Tube as a matter of habit, though Vimeo is becoming a destination. On Vimeo, it is artists who comment, not imbecilic types who have trouble spelling a 3 letter word, though they have no trouble with the 4 letter kind.

But, one with a Smartphone and the right app, can broadcast any event imaginable.

On Holy Thursday, portions of The Catholic Mass of The Lord’s Supper, were telecast live from Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church in Forest Hills, Queens, NY, over Veetle, an Easy to use Service. Views were not bad at all.
On Good Friday, Ustream was used to televise the St. Thomas Apostle to Holy Child Jesus Walk. But, Ustream, which the experts say is THE Place to get lots of viewers, only registered 11 Views in 25 Minutes of Transmission. Ustream is actually for the pros at the Traditional Broadcasting Networks, who may carry a story which is intended for web telecast only.
Easter Vigil at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church in Forest Hills Queens NY, was carried on Veetle and 31 views were registered. Part of the Tridentine Latin Mass of Easter Sunday, was carried by Veetle, as it handled a weak transmission signal quite well for 14 views in 11 Minutes. The Bambuser Feed failed twice and needs a stronger data signal to handle the transmission.
But two days before Palm Sunday, it handled the telecast of a portion of The Children’s Stations Of The Cross, Live from St. Pancras Roman Catholic Church in Glendale, Queens, NY. It lasted 3 Minutes and 11 Seconds, getting 18 Views.
Those of you who watch “”, the show “Mic’d Up” With Michael Voris, is carried Live on Wednesday Nights, with Live Feed on Livestream. Livestream like Ustream, caters to the Pros.

It is time to “Go Live” & preach the Good News. Many of The services are free. The Results will amaze you. You Tube is “So 2005.”

A Catholic Presence is needed.
You are The Media.

Spy Wednesday Ends Lent In The Latin(Roman)Rite Ordinary Form Calendar

14 Apr

This Is The Day When Judas, Son of Simon The Iscariot, Betrayed Jesus for 30 Pieces of Silver, the Price of a Slave.
On Holy(Maundy)Thursday, The Easter Triduum Begins. During The High Mass of The Lord’s Supper, “Gloria In Excelsis Deo” is sung and bells are rung, then The Church Falls Silent. There’s no Final Blessing. This is the Procession of The Body of Christ to a place of Repose, signifying the Beginning of the Parts of The Three Days of The Christ in The Tomb.
On Holy Saturday Evening, the Church is in Total Darkness. Candles are lit. Readings of Antiphons and Epistles are done here. The Proclamation of Easter is Chanted. The “Gloria” is Intoned.
Just before The Gospel is proclaimed, the “Alleluia”, for the 1st Time in the Latin(Roman)Rite, is chanted. Easter begins at this point.
Catechumens are Baptized and Confirmed and will later receive their 1st Holy Communion. Others who received valid Baptism will receive Confirmation and Holy Communion. Those coming from Orthodox Churches, who received Baptism and Confirmation, called Chrismation, but not receiving Holy Communion, will Make a Profession of Faith and Receive 1st Holy Communion. Those Orthodox who did receive Holy Communion in the Byzantine Rite Orthodox Churches, will make a Profession of Faith. My Most Dear Friend made both a Profession of Faith and received her 1st Holy Communion at this Easter Vigil in 2012.
For on Easter, it is not the Bunny. Rather, The Christ Is Risen.

Deo Gratias!

Played With Ustream, Found More Simulcasters

3 Apr

It is more than Facebook, Twitter and Blogger, as tumblr, LinkedIN, WordPress and Google+are connectable  via Mobile.

Yes, you will have a Social Connection, even via Livestream, so Ustream is viable and quite good.

But, Bambuser will handle a lot more than planned as it is smaller in size, but one may get a more European Audience as Bambuser is based in Sweden and Finland. I think of them as a Live Version of Dailymotion.

But, there is a You Tube Option on Ustream and I will use it on Good Friday. It will show the coverage further.

Good Friday Walk will be on Ustream. This is the 1st Time in History that the Walk will be telecast live, from 9AM ET(2:00PM GMT) until 12Noon ET(5PM GMT). The channel is marshmactv on Ustream.
Any later coverage is on the stationsquarestudios channel on Bambuser. There will be simulcasts on Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, and tumblr, as well as Google+.

All Easter Triduum Coverage is available on the channels immediately after the broadcast is over. The World of Digital Media is that way.

Now THAT will be a memorable and busy weekend.

Deo Gratias!

Two Live Video Streaming Networks To Share The Live Concerts From Forest Hills & Live Good Friday Coverage

14 Mar

I find that Veetle is a good way to present and produce Artistic Programming. But, Ustream has further reach, so in the case of Ustream, at least one concert will be presented.
The beauty of this is further saturation via Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, WordPress and Tumblr, as Simulcasters from Ustream. You Tube might also be pressed into service as an option. In the cases of Facebook, Google+ & Tumblr, a Live Simulcast is quite possible. Twitter is just a link. Veetle will be the Main Network with Facebook and Twitter for one Simulcast, but Ustream makes for a greater possibility.
Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church in Forest Hills, Queens, NY, is the usual broadcast site of these concerts, a Production of Station Square Studios. Replay on both Veetle and Ustream is available immediately after the broadcast. The Ustream Broadcast will be fed to the Replay Network, consisting of Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, WordPress, Google+ & Tumblr & the possible You Tube Option. The Veetle Broadcast will be fed to Facebook & Twitter, as well as Google+ & Tumblr.
On Good Friday Morning into past Noontime, the Walk from St Thomas Apostle, Woodhaven, to Holy Child Jesus, in Richmond Hill, will be carried on Ustream, from the Morning Prayer Service at St. Thomas Apostle, Woodhaven, to Meditative Station #1, and back to St. Thomas Apostle School for Reflections and Music, followed by Procession to Park Lane South and 102 Street in Forest Park, for the Cross Ceremony and then to Holy Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Richmond Hill for Stations Of The Cross. Ustream will be linked with Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Replay will be on those Simulcasters and You Tube. It is an Historic Live Broadcast. This has been on Vimeo and Dailymotion in past years. You have to see it live to believe it. Meditative Station 1 is Whiting Square at 85 Street and 91st Avenue, and will be seen live for the 1st Time in History. Think of it as a Catholic Woodstock Gathering.

A few years ago, someone complained while holding an Android Smartphone, that no news media covers this. I told the guy while I recorded this for upload to Dailymotion and Vimeo that “You Are The Media”, in reference to New Media. Now, it can be seen around the world, over the Internet, Live as it happens.

So shall it be seen live, somewhere in the World.

Pax Domine Sit Semper Vobiscum!
