“Gary? O Gary?”

Question on Your OBSESSION With the Priestly Society of St. Pius X:

WHO Are the Five Anonymous Cardinals who tell you that the SSPX are in SCHISM?

I JUST WANT TO KNOW. So does everybody else want to know about this Elite Group.

A Break Is Needed & Good Homily Today

8 Jun

Running to Midtown Manhattan in the Evenings and Weekends can be rather tiring.
So I will be attending Mass, Tridentine or New Mass for a Week here in Queens, and that goes as well for the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy. I can head to Astoria for a Saturday Vigil Divine Liturgy.
After a Virus where Montezuma is getting his revenge with me, it is time to not run around like a maniac.
It was great to attend the 1PM High Mass at Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs on Ascan Avenue and Queens Blvd, as it was the Feast Of Corpus Christi, with a Procession to follow.
The Redoubtable Fr Frank Passenant, Administrator of the Parish, is the Master Of Sacred Ceremonies. The Gospel was read by the Nationally Syndicated Deacon Greg Kandra but Fr Passenant preached the Homily on The Eucharist, which satisfies more than temporal things. While the iPhone and Mac Computer may satisfy for only a while, the Most Holy Sacrament of The Altar Satisfies Always.
It is Possible for a Traditional Mass Goer like me, to find a well preached Ordinary Form Mass and this was a Gem.
Gregorian Chant was sung under the Supervision of Maestro David Close.
Bravo(No, not the TV Network By The Same Name)!

Deo Gratias!

It Was Web Radio Only But It Was A Nice Corpus Christi Procession

7 Jun

The Media Era has changed a few ways in a few years. It used to be that unless your community had a low powered FM Radio Station, or Public Access Channels on a Cable TV System, you were out of luck. Lugging 25 Pound PortaPacks along with the Video Camera, could cause pain in one’s shoulders.
But within the last few years, the ability to bring live Internet Television to your Mac, PC or Chromebook plus Smartphone, is underway and ongoing. Even Internet Radio is portable. With devices such as iDevice, Android and Windows Phone, the days of renting a Studio seems far away.
Your Studio with the right apps, is your Smartphone or Tablet. A Great Wireless Fidelity Signal or a Great High Speed Data Plan, sends your video and audio or live feed to the world.
Such was the case at Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs RC Church in Forest Hills, Queens today on The Feast Of Corpus Christi. Audio over Spreacher Web Radio is being fed to Social Media. The Attempt to Simulcast this event over Veetle, a Live Internet Video Company, didn’t work, but there was Internet Radio. This is my 1st Foray on Internet Radio. At least the Broadcast is out there on the web.
And this type of experimentation will continue. And we will be Local and Original in our approach to programming.
Just Like it was, today in Forest Hills, NY!

Deo Gratias

The “Prayer Of The Faithful”

6 Jun

It was on Sunday, November 29th, 1964 when “The Prayer Of The Faithful” was added to the Tridentine Form Of The Mass. It would be the Start of The Novus Ordo Revolution.
Supposedly, it derives from The Great Litany from The Byzantine Rite, though it falls short of the Magnificence of The Divine Liturgies of St. John Chrysostom and St. Basil The Great. I give you Two Litany Examples which are in both liturgies, and these are sung by Priest or Deacon:
“For Favorable Weather, An Abundance of the Fruits of The Earth and For Peaceful Times, Let Us Pray to The Lord”, for which the Cantor chants ” Kyrie Elaison”(Lord Have Mercy);
This Litany opens the Divine Liturgy, “In Peace, Let Us Pray To The Lord” followed by the “Kyrie.”
On this Subject, many of the Litanies in the Roman/Latin Rite Ordinary Form Mass are not as good. Some however are variations of the Byzantine Form but recited and not sung. Lord Hear Our Prayer(Deus Exaudinos) is also recited. Usually, the Mass Cantor or Lector, leads these Litanies.
My Alternate Mass to the TLM is the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and I will head to Holy Cross in Astoria, QueensNY for the 5PM Saturday Vigil Divine Liturgy. It is All Saints Sunday on the Julian Calendar as well as 1st Sunday After Pentecost.
If one who worships at the Ordinary Roman/Latin Rite Form Mass or the Tridentine Latin Mass is interested in going to a Byzantine Rite Catholic Divine Liturgy, by all means, do it. It will teach you a lot about both forms of Roman/Latin Rite Mass. And The Great Litany will explain “The Prayers Of The Faithful.”
The Byzantine Rite Catholics know this Litany quite well. It will be a real lesson for those who wonder why there are Prayers Of The Faithful. It is actually Eastern Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Prayer.
But, sadly, there was no real Catechisis in regards to this in the Roman/Latin Rite.
What Else Is New!

The “Streak” Was Broken At 12:05PM

3 Jun

For Some Reason(Neck Stiffness Perhaps)I decided to head to Mass at Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs RC Church in Forest Hills, at c/o Queens Blvd & Ascan Avenue.
It felt good to touch base with Old Friends. I know that I am a Traditional Catholic, but a Catholic Nevertheless. The Pews and Kneelers are somewhat more comfortable. And, Yes, I can pray for the Living and The Dead at a Novus Ordo Mass. It is on weekday Masses where I have some comfort with the Ordinary Form. It is ON Sunday when I don’t have certainty, ESPECIALLY WITH WHAT PASSES FOR “SACRED” MUSIC (Which I often call “Muzak”).
The Feast of St. Charles Lwanga & Companions was today’s Mass. They are 19th Century Martyrs in Uganda. Their Blood was shed for the Glory of God and His Holy Church.
And I pray that I am at Mass tomorrow morning before head to another destination in Richmond Hill, Queens. I should go to OLQM because I have to give My Most Dear Friend a Catholic Themed Book. I believe she will like it.
