So It Was 30″ Of Snow For The Mystical Body Of Christ

26 Jan

So my MTA Subway Connections via both the E & F IND Queens Blvd Line ran local & slowly, but I did head to Ascan Avenue & Queens Blvd, from Jamaica Avenue/Van Wyck Expressway, via the E Train to 75th Avenue. And I made it to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Forest Hills, Queens, with time to spare, for the 1PM Mass. It was Septuagesima Sunday on the Tridentine Calendar, which means that Lent is near, and that Christmas Cycle has nearly ended, as Feast Of The Presentation of The Child Jesus & Purification of The Blessed Virgin Mary on February 2nd, ends the Christmas Cycle on the Tridentine Calendar & Byzantine Calendar(Note That February 15th on the Gregorian Calendar is February 2nd on the Julian Calendar, so Christmas Cycle has a way to go). In effect, in the Authentic Roman/Latin Rite, which is the Tridentine Latin Mass & The Sacraments of The Church in the Tridentine Form, is in a period of overlap between the beginning of The Easter Cycle & the End of The Christmas Cycle. The Two Sacred Cycles do meet. One would never know this on the Novus Ordo Mass Calendar of The Roman Rite, where in the “Spirit of Dialogue & Ecumenism” that Time after Epiphany & Time After Pentecost were abolished and follow Ordinary Time, which the Presbyterian & Reformed Ecclesiastical Communities use.
Today is the Third Sunday of Ordinary Time in the Ordinary Form Calendar. The Mass Celebrant was Most Reverend Paul R. Sanchez, Pastor Of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs. The Deacon who proclaimed the Gospel & gave the Homily was Nationally Known Reverend Deacon Greg Kandra(Who resides in Forest Hills, NY).
To that young man who helped me up after I had slipped & fell in the Massive Snow,  Thank You for You are a Witness For The Mystical Body Of Christ.
Deacon Greg Kandra gave a Great Homily regarding The Mystical Body Of Christ, of which we The Baptized belong to, in relation to the Annual March For Life.
A group of Young Catholics got off the Buses, stalled along the Highways outside of Washington, DC, due to Winter Storm Jonas, taking Snow & Building an Altar. Next, many people joined in for Mass at that Snow Altar.
As many people were stranded in vehicles, these Young Catholics were their Aid & Comfort.
Great Catholic Action came forth from This Disaster.

God Supplied The Lemons of Winter Storm Jonas. These Young Catholics Made The Lemonade.

Heroic & Blessed, I Say!

Deo Gratias!

Weird Flux Weatherwise In Forest Hills, Queens

30 Sep

In a Matter of 30 Minutes, the Temperature has wildly fluctuated. The Temperature went from 70°F(21°C) to 78°F(26°C) to 67°F(19°C).
Welcome to Whacked Out Autumn In New York City.
One Minute, you are sweating as if you have a Fever. The Next Minute, you’re shivering.

It’s Autumn! No wonder I am wearing a jacket.

One Thing To Be Said About Christmas Day 2014

25 Dec

The Weather has finally cleared up after 3 Days of Rain, Mist and Fog. The Extreme of Warmish, Moist, Dark Days are finished here in Queens, as well as the Other 4 Boroughs.
One can only take so much grey in the sky. It affects moods.
But, it is one of The Stories of Christmas.

Something I Have Not Seen Since April, 2014

10 Dec

At least not since early April, well it’s back in December, 2014, it is Snow.
It is Late Autumn here in Queens and Winter 2014-2015 begins on Sunday, 12-22-2014. Day Light Wise, it will be the shortest day of The Year.
And so it snows, even just a little bit.

It Was 34°C or 93°F In Short Hot and Humid

7 Sep

And now it is 21°C or 69.8°F, which means that it has cooled off, rather Dramatically in NYC Queens. The last few days were uncomfortable, but a Nice, Nasty Thunderstorm cooled off things here.
It is about time in the last stages of Summer in NYC. It will be wonderfully pleasant for the week ahead.
It had not been this hot in awhile as it was a pleasant summer, but Summer reared its’ ugly head for the past few sweaty days. Even with a Shower, it was still hot. But it has cooled down.

Deo Gratias!

It Isn’t 33°C Here In Queens But It Is Uncomfortable

2 Sep

While Labour Day is the Unofficial End of Summer, Summer actually ends September 20th. It will cool off rather nicely by Sunday September 20th, this year. It has been a comfortable Summer, but there is always a reminder that Summer is Summer and currently due to all the Humidity, one can safely say that the 5 Boroughs is not Arizona’s Dry Heat. Rather it is more like Florida, a place colonized by “Snowbirds.” They are Ex NYC Residents who don’t like to shovel Snow and who can blame them.
It is 30°C, or 86°F, and Humid, hence uncomfortable to the core. Sometimes, the stores are so over air conditioned that muscles ache, which is Bursitis Pain and that is not fun.
Sunday, I was drenched from perspiring due to the Humidity, so I dried off by going to the Tridentine Latin Mass at St Agnes on East 43rd Street(Venerable Archbishop Fulton J Sheen Place). The Ecstasy was drying off. But there was the Agony of Bursitis, so I simply offered up the pain as a Suffering.

I wish that a Cold Front would come through. I like Fresh Breezes and Natural Coolness.

Like CBC Radio And CBC Television, I Have Gone Metric

11 Jul

I have this habit of getting to know our Northern Neighbors. So, I have been tuning into CBC Radio One Montreal.
There the Weather Forecasts on “Daybreak Montreal” & “Home Run”‘are given in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. For example 25°F is cold, but 25°C=77°F, which with Low Humidity, is rather comfortable.
It is another world. And for my Weather Channel Page, I like my temps in Celsius.
Got that, Frank Cavallero?
