I Know About Ustream But Bambuser Live Streams On More Social Media Plus Test Broadcast On Friday 4/11/2014

2 Apr

And Bambuser live streams on tumblr, Facebook, Twitter & Blogger as well as WordPress.

Ustream basically does Facebook and Twitter, with a You Tube Option for later after live broadcast. Personally, I think that Ustream is as overrated as You Tube. Big does not necessarily  translate into big views.

For just a minute of a test broadcast, I had 5 views on Bambuser. It may see more action on the Easter Triduum Weekend.

Bambuser will carry Holy Thursday Evening Coverage. Bambuser will handle the Afternoon of Good Friday Coverage. Veetle will handle the Easter Vigil Coverage. Ustream will have the Coverage of The Good Friday Walk.

I am encouraged by the fact that Ustream is not the only show. There is room for 3 Networks of Live Video Streaming of the Easter Triduum.
On April 11th, a Friday, a Test Broadcast will occur live from St. Pancras in Glendale, when Monsignor Sherman Council Knights Of Columbus #5103 will hold their annual Lenten Fish Fry. It will be on Bambuser.com, and Simulcast on Blogger, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter, as well as Google+, beginning at 7:30PM EDT(00:30 GMT) to conclusion. It may be a community event, but a good one to share with the World and why not.

Three Meatless Days Is Not A Bad Thing

7 Mar

I am contemplating eating no meat until St. Patrick’s Day Weekend. I can live without meat. I may do without Dairy products for awhile. I look at it this way. Why Not!
Cutting starches to a minimum may also be a good idea.
Fasting for some days will be helpful. It will clean the system.
God gives us this time to do it. Make use of it. He calls for it.

Gloria In Excelsis Deo!

Mardi Gras, Carneval and Shrove Tuesaday

4 Mar

I look at it this as “Last Minute to play in the 3rd Period”, as Lent begins in Earnest on Ash Wednesday, according to the Latin(Roman) Rite Catholic Church.
Lent is not a Time Without Joy. It is a Preparation for Easter, The Resurrection of The Lord Jesus from The Tomb. Lent is an Anglo Saxon Word for Spring. Lent actually ends on Spy Wednesday in Holy Week. Spy Wednesday commemorates the day when Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ for 30 Pieces of Silver.

The Easter Triduum is Holy Thursday until the Easter Vigil. This is a Solemn Anticipation. For on Good Friday, Jesus Christ was Crucified, Died and was Entombed. But His Act Of Sacrifice, opened the Gates of Paradise.

So in regards to “Pigging Out”, today, Don’t do it, as you will begin Lent on a Sour Note.

Pax Vobiscum!

Snow Again Wednesday, BTW & It’s Ash Wednesday

3 Mar

It is cold. It is Winter. It is March. It is New York City.
Snow is predicted for Ash Wednesday.
Will That Hold down the crowds at Catholic and Episcopal Churches?
I doubt it. It is Ash Wednesday, the 1st of three events for APE Catholics. These are the people who will pack Parish Churches on Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, especially at the Easter Vigil. Easter Sunday, like Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday, will mean packed houses. Hence, this is really why I say “APE Catholics.”

Forgiveness Sunday

2 Mar

Great Lent begins on Monday in the Eastern Orthodox Churches and in The Eastern Sui Iuris Catholic Churches.
So there is Forgiveness Sunday prior to Great Lent. The Final Sunday Before Lent in the Byzantine Rite calls this “Sunday of Cheese Fare.”
The Byzantine Rite Orthodox and Byzantine Rite Catholic Churches are more strict than the Latin(Roman)Rite of The Catholic Church, but the Eastern Orthodox Churches have a Fasting System which comes from Mount Athos, where, for the Monks, Lent is an Everyday occasion.
The Byzantine Rite Catholic Church as part of One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, follows the Eastern Orthodox Tradition of Great Lent beginning on a Monday. Strict Fast from Meat and Dairy products including eggs, occurs on Clean Monday and on Good Friday. Simple Fasts are on Wednesdays and Fridays, meaning that Meat is not to be eaten. Ash Wednesday is not offered in the Byzantine Rite of The Catholic Church. Ash Wednesday is a Latin(Roman)Rite Practice.
On Forgiveness Sunday, people apologize for wrongs committed in the Byzantine Rite Catholic and Orthodox Churches. There are hugs, kisses and handshakes given. This is done for the purpose of a Holy, Great Lent.
The Eastern Orthodox Churches have so many Fasting Rules that I would suggest consulting the OCA’s Website.
In the case of Byzantine and Latin Rites, consult your local Eparchy or Diocese.
The Byzantine Rite of The Catholic Church has a Great Lent Fasting System which is similar to the Latin(Roman)Rite in the days before the Reforms of Blessed Pope Pius XII. In the Latin Rite, it used to be no meat on Wednesdays and Fridays during Lent. Now it is just Ash Wednesday and on the Fridays during Lent.

A Blessed Lent to All!
Deo Gratias!

Lent and Eastertide In Common

28 Feb

The Easter Season Will arrive during April. It will begin in The Evening of Holy Saturday at The Easter Vigil.

Lent, in The Roman Catholic Church will begin on Ash Wednesday, which begins a period of Fasting. Ash Wednesday & Good Friday are days of Fast and Abstinence. Meat is to be abstained from on those two days. Fasting means one is to partake of 1 Solid Meal. Ash Wednesday is a Day of Penance. Ashes symbolise that “Man is Dust and to Dust he(she) Shall return”, as one is reminded of one’s own mortality and dependence on God.
In The Anglican and Lutheran Communities, this day is also offered.
This Sunday in the Byzantine Rite, both Catholic and Eastern Orthodox, is called Sunday of Cheese Fare, or the Last Day of the eating of Dairy products. Last Sunday was the Sunday of Meat Fare. From Last Monday, no meat products can be consumed. This up and coming Monday is the start of Lent in the Antiochan, Alexandrian, Chaldean, Armenian and Byzantine Rites, both Catholic and Orthodox. Monday is called Clean Monday, the Start of Eastern Orthodox & Eastern Catholic Lent. No Ashes are to be distributed. If Catholics of the 5 Eastern Rites wish to receive Ashes, they will have to go to to their nearest Latin(Roman)Rite Parish for Ashes.

Catholics of both Eastern and Western Traditions are encouraged to go to any available Masses and Devotions in their respective Parish Churches. This is a Holy Season.

In the Tridentine Latin Calendar there are the Sundays of Septuagessima, where the Alleluia is not said nor chanted until the Easter Vigil.
As of Ash Wednesday, the Alleluia is retired until the Easter Vigil in the Ordinary Form of the Holy Sacrifice of The Mass.
But, in the Byzantine Rite of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and in the Eastern Orthodox Churches, the Alleluia is more pronounced in commemoration of The Dead. In the Byzantine Rite of The Catholic Church, the Divine Liturgy of St Basil Martyr is offered as it has a Penitential Tone to it. This is also the case of the Eastern Orthodox Churches of the Byzantine Rite.

Mc Donald’s in Astoria, will be rather empty during Great Lent, as the Eastern Orthodox Churches forbid the eating of Meat and Dairy. The same goes for the Eastern Catholics in that area, but Roman Catholics will be eating Fish Sandwiches or drinking coffee during fasts from Solid Food. They are permitted Dairy products.

It will be an Interesting Lenten Season. I may even head to a Byzantine Catholic Liturgy of The Presanctified Gifts. In the Latin Rite, this only occurs on Good Friday as there is no Mass that Day.

This rarely occurs but Easter being celebrated by Catholics of all 6 Rites and Protestants and Eastern Orthodox is rare. But, it will be a great celebration.

It is a Sign of Unity.

In Nomini Patris, Et Filli Et Spiritu Sancti, Amen.
