The Purpose of The Double Appearance was to promote the August 23rd Jointly Sponsored Barbeque to raise funds for the Holy Child Jesus Food Pantry.

And something unusual occurred at Holy Child Jesus in Richmond Hill, Queens. A Young Lady, who I have heard chant in Latin, “Pie Jesus” at a Missa Requiem in the Parish, sang both the 12Noon Mass & 5PM Mass. It was a Welcome Change from the “Gagorian Chant” of the Youth Minister and his Gaggle of Adolescents, whose singing of chants could awaken all of those entombed below the High Altar in Saint Peter’s Basilica.

It was easy on my ears, even though it is the Silly Summer Season of Ordinary Time. And she does know, not only Gregorian Chant but is familiar with Byzantine Chant. She also teaches Singing in Private Lessons.

And Flyers were handed to Parishioners at the End of Mass, promoting the joint Morris Park Council Knights of Columbus 566-Ancient Order Of Hibernians Queens Division 14 Barbeque to benefit the HCJ Food Pantry.

It has been a Long Day & it is a Time for rest.

The Young Girl & The Litanies Of The Faithful

I know what “Culture Shock” is, especially when I go from the Tridentine Latin Mass over to The Novus Ordo Mass. In regards to Novelty, this is associated with the Missa Novus Ordo (Or Might that be Opus Dei, I am not sure).
So at The Litany of The Faithful, a 6 Year Old Girl read the Litanies Of The Faithful, perhaps a  Guinness Book Record for Novus Ordo Liturgical Novelty.
So, unless this Child was Baptized, Chrismated and Received The Precious Blood of Christ via Holy Communion Spoon in a Byzantine Rite Catholic Church(The Eastern Orthodox Churches also administer the Sacraments (Mysteries) of Initiation), I suspect that this Child may not have received even 1st Penance, let alone Holy Communion in the Roman/Latin Rite.
In the case of this Solemn Mass Of Thanksgiving for a Newly Ordained Priest, who will now act as this Queens Parish Administrator, this Parish Church was packed to capacity, with Reception and 1st Blessings by the Priest.

The Child was up in the Pulpit, perhaps standing on some form of platform. Then, listening to the Litanies, I recognized variations of Litanies which one responds to during the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.
It was hard to understand the “Wee One” but I did understand her.

And It Was Good.

Mass In A Strange Tongue & Meeting

For this evening, at the Chapel in the Holy Child Jesus Leonard Center in Richmond Hill, Queens, I was at Mass in a Foreign language. The language is called English, which sounds unusual as I usually am at the Tridentine Latin Mass at Holy Innocents in Midtown Manhattan. But the gathering was intimate, amongst the Brothers of Ancient Order of Hibernians Queens Division 14, as it was the Biennial Installation of Officers Meeting.
I usually face Liturgical East along with the Priest who does the same. But this evening, The Priest faced Us(Versus Populum). But, it was the Mass. In anticipation of The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a new feast, promulgated by Pope St John Paul II, St. Juan Diego, was offered this evening by the Very Reverend Father Francis Shannon.

The Brothers gathered for a Meeting and Installation of Officers, followed by a Repast.

Then it was Time to head homeward. And here I write this:

Installation and Mass @ H C J

At 6:30 PM, Ancient Order of Hibernians Queens Division 14 will hold its’ Biennial Installation of Division Officers at Holy Child Jesus Leonard Center in Richmond Hill, Queens, NY.
It will begin with the Holy Sacrifice of The Mass, offered in the Ordinary Form(The Mass of Paul VI or Novus Ordo).
In short, the Table will be turned around. The Priest will face the Congregation(Assembly). But, it is The Mass.
And I Desire to be there to worship The Triune Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
A Short Meeting will occur, followed by The Pre Christmas Repast, closing the year 2014 AD.
