No, this isn’t The Series on FOX, but a History Making Knights Of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship Round, the 1st One at PS 101Q in Forest Hills, NY, in Forest Hills Gardens, a Private Community.

How it will make History is that all of The Contestants will have been born entirely in the 21st Century, with the oldest contestants being born in 2001 & the youngest ones born in 2006.

Next Year at the 25th Anniversary, those who were the 14 Year Olds who would turn 15 in 1992, will be age 40.

This Year marks the 20th Anniversary of The Competition’s 1st Forest Hills Contestants. There were Two Queens County Champions from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, one of whom represented Our Lady Of Mercy Recreation, while the other represented the OLQM Teen Center.

Our Lady Of Mercy in Forest Hills, Queens, will be the Partner for Monsignor Sherman Council’s 24th Knights Of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship Round I.

Wednesday Evening January 13th, 2016 at 7:00PM, starts an interesting evening.

September 11 & Byzantine Catholics

For those of you who are Ukrainian Greek Catholic and are on the Traditional Julian Calendar, tomorrow is The Feast & Fast of The Beheading of St. John The Baptist. It is a Day of Liturgy(Holy Day of Obligation) & a Day of Abstention From Meat. According to the Traditional Julian Calendar, September 11th on the Gregorian Calendar is August 29th on the Traditional Julian Calendar.

But, I doubt that any of you have forgotten Tuesday September 11th, 2001 when at 8:46 AM ET, a Plane was crashed into the North Tower at the World Trade Center Complex, followed by a second Plane crashing into the South Tower of The World Trade Center Complex at 9:03AM ET. The South Tower collapsed at 9:59AM ET, with the North Tower collapsing at 10:29AM ET.

Do this day as one of Prayer & Penance. Also do abstain from Meat. This is for all Catholics, East & West.

17 Years Since The Morning Of A Dry Throat

The Dry Throat was as the result of calling the names of 63 Altar Servers at Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs RC Church in Forest Hills, Queens on Sunday, 02-22-1998, between the end of the 10:00AM Mass & 11:30AM High Mass. There were also other people presented with awards in connection with the Knights Of Columbus Altar Server Awards. It was the 1st Time in Msgr Sherman Council History that THIS ceremony took place and it did not occur in East Glendale. In short the Council did this at the corner of Ascan Avenue and Queens Boulevard. I was also Grand Knight at this time,17 Years ago, in an Era when The 1st Text Messages were flying around on OMNIPOINT Handsets(OMNIPOINT is a wholly owned subsidiary of T-Mobile).

Of 63 Servers being honored, only 19 Showed up at the Huge Catholic Church at Queens Blvd & Ascan Avenue. The Server Awards are on Videotape. There was no such thing as Smartphones which could be used to telecast the event live. Vimeo, Dailymotion, & You Tube did not exist, nor did Veetle, Bambuser nor Ustream exist.

What has happened since this ceremony are the following:
One of the Altar Servers who was awarded a Knights Of Columbus Altar Server Award, David James, currently coordinates the Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs Altar Server Society. He follows in the Tradition of Desmond Flynn, who ran the Corps before. The # of Servers is now at 97 Servers;
For two days in 1998, when the Baskin Robbins Shop was at Ascan Avenue and Austin Street, now occupied by the Natural Market, a 5th Grader and Altar Server called Amanda, asked me why I didn’t present a Server Award to a girl named Rennelynne. I thought that Amanda called her Rennerina. That has been taken care of and Rene Lynne Carino became the 64th Altar Server to be honoured. Thank You Amanda;

The Next, Legitimate Knights Of Columbus Altar Server Award, was performed In October, 2006, when Donald Gander was Grand Knight, legitimately honouring the Sacred Heart East Glendale Altar Server Corps and was held at Msgr Sherman Council on Myrtle Avenue in East Glendale, Queens. In October, 2008, Grand Knight Dominic Chirachella honoured the St. Pancras Altar Server Corps.
The ONLY Altar Server Corps left is Our Lady Of Mercy on Kessel Street in Forest Hills, Queens.

The Next Essay deals with a certain “Pious” Family at Sacred Heart in East Glendale, who practiced the Vice Of Jealousy, whose Favorite Restaurant, Portofino, is just across the street from both Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs R C Church and School.
These People were “Pious”, if you like The Borgias & as cunning as many if not most of The Borgias. In short and In Retrospect, this Family, now domiciled in Arizona’s Phoenix Metropolitan Area, were Jealous and Treacherous.
Starting a war meant nothing to them, even if it meant starting One in the Grand Knight’s Backyard, where the Grand Knight went to Mass.

As for the Dry Throat from pronouncing so many names while in the OLQM Sanctuary, my thirst was quenched at the Council. Before that, The Pastor of Sacred Heart was presented with his Knights Of Columbus Honorary Life Membership Card by me at Sacred Heart Rectory on 78th Avenue.
Then at the Council I had two Diet Cokes which refreshed me.

And then I went home, and one more ceremony on Sunday, March 1st to honor The Sacred Heart Altar Server Corps.

The 2nd Round of the Knights Of Columbus Free Throw, occurs at Saint Pancras Auditorium in Glendale, Queens tonight @ 7:30PM EST(9:00PM In Newfoundland).
This time, Contestants will shoot 25 Times from the foul line.
But, this is only the case if another Council’s Contestants show up tonight.

The 20th Century Ended On January 14th, 2015

The Last Ever 20th Century Born Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship Contestant, finished shooting at 9:04PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015(10:34PM in Newfoundland), at the 23rd Annual Msgr Sherman Council Knights of Columbus #5103 Competition at PS 101Q in Forest Hills Gardens in Queens, NY.
It was an Interesting 60th Birthday for me. In the Byzantine Rite of the Catholic Church, this day on the Julian Calendar is January 1st, known as New Years Day. The Byzantine Rite recognizes two feasts, namely Feast Of The Circumcision Of The Child Jesus and the Feast Of St. Basil The Great on this Day and Date. I began the day with Mass at 8:00AM at Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs in Forest Hills, Queens, NY. There was no Feast on January 14th, on the Ordinary Form Calendar in the Roman Rite.
There is an Annual Glitch in the competition and Sacred Heart Recreation in East Glendale, Queens, adjacent to Our Lady Of Mercy in Forest Hills, Queens, always sends more contestants than everyone else does.

Does anyone in East Glendale know how to read English?

But the competition was done from 7:08PM(8:38 PM in Newfoundland) until 9:04 PM EST(10:34PM in Newfoundland), taking 1 Hour, 56 Minutes to do. The Last Contestant was from Sacred Heart and he has the Distinction of being the Last Ever Competitor who was born in the 20th Century, being born in 2000.

Hence the title of this blog post, because the competition will, beginning in January of 2016, have all contestants born in the 21st Century. It has been 23 Years since the 1st Competition at Christ The King HS in Middle Village in Queens.

The New Era begins in January, 2016.

Just Looking To Upgrade The Mobile

I have Virgin Mobile, one of two Sprint Prepaid Services, so within the next week or so, I am planning to upgrade the phone within budget.
I have decided to stay with Android, a form of UNIX as my phone’s OS, as Android can handle live web telecasting and brosdcasting. Besides the apps are better. I had considered the Lumia with MS Windows 8.1, but there is no live broadcast/telecast app like Veetle.com.  The Google Play Store is almost as well developed as Apple’s App Store. The video recording apps are good here as well.
And the video operations would move over to High Definition for the 1st Time since the days of The iPod Touch 4G. HD 720p is great but HD 1080p is more spectacular. It is time to head to broadcast quality in Video and the time is now.
It was on the set of “Peripheral City”, a web series recorded in HD, when I heard that the price of High Definition would shoot downward.

Now it can be carried in one’s pocket and doesn’t need the budget of a major studio to have it.

The 2011 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship, Round 2 in February, 2011, was recorded on an iPod Touch 4G in 1280x720p High Definition and is still seen on Dailymotion. Parts of that coverage were seen on RTL.be in Europe, from the Dailymotion Coverage, becoming the 1st and Only Time the HD coverage was seen outside of You Tube. And it has not been duplicated since February of 2011. That competition is usually seen on You Tube. But, it is fun being the only producer to do that.

The changeover will be in the next few weeks and Video will be fun again.

More May Actually Mean Less Scripture

If one goes to either the Tridentine Latin Mass or the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, one will notice a striking departure from the Roman Rite Novus Ordo Missae, in regards to the Scriptural Readings.
In both the Tridentine and Byzantine Liturgies, both are on One Year Calendar.
But in the Roman Rite Catholic Novus Ordo Missae, it becomes a 3 Year Sunday Cycle and a Two Year Daily Cycle. And the Number of Readings went from two to three at the Scriptural Readings. But, this is all so disjointed. One wonders why when there is an Old Testament Reading, which corresponds with The Gospel, the New Testament Reading appears disjointed in relation to the Gospel.

This is WHAT occurs when Modernist Mindset takes the Place of Tradition which is passed on through the centuries. Things become confusing and disjointed. Was that extra reading really needed? The Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, which is another Traditional Catholic Liturgy of Intense Beauty, was heavily borrowed from, to maintain a Catholic Element in the Roman Rite. Unfortunately, it doesn’t translate very well, especially when the Great Litany of The 1st Antiphon, is sung to Organ Music with “Deus Exaudinos”, replacing the Traditional “Kyrie Elaison.” It should be noted that in the Byzantine Rite, the Human Voice is the Instrument of the Byzantine Rite, not the Organ, Guitar, nor “Bad Tambourines From the US$.99 Store.”

It was on a Weekend, where I was at the Saturday Vigil Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom at Holy Cross Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church at 5:00PM, in Astoria, Queens. The following morning, I was at the Tridentine Latin Mass at St John’s Cemetery Chapel in Middle Village, Queens. At 1:00PM, I was at the Novus Ordo Mass at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs R C Church on Queens Boulevard and Ascan Avenue in Forest Hills, Queens. Believe it or not, the Gospel Reading began the Same Way at Holy Cross Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs R C Church. But, unlike Holy Cross Ukrainian, the Gospel at OLQM, stopped short of what was read at Holy Cross. But at Holy Cross, it was the Whole Reading. Sin was mentioned at Holy Cross.

In regards to the Tridentine and Byzantine Forms of Liturgy, they have only one Eucharistic Anaphora. They are scripturally based in the form of Psalms, and both go with Perpetual 1 Year Reading Cycles. In both Liturgies, the Priest faces Liturgical East. There is much Chant in both. Both emphasize Sacrifice. Neither Liturgy attempts to imitate the Practices of Protestants. The Liturgical Muzak of Marty Haugen and Company, is found in NEITHER Liturgy.

You see, the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom is a Traditional Catholic Liturgy, as is the Tridentine Latin Mass(Roman Rite Divine Liturgy of St Pius V). There is no Banal, Manufactured Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite. Sadly, in the Roman Rite, there is very little of The Roman Rite in the Ordinary Form of The Roman Rite Mass, where Anglican and Lutheran, Jewish and Byzantine Elements are present. The mention of Sin and Hell is most minimal in what is often called The Novus Ordo Mass(The NO). If I want the True  Roman Rite, it will be at the Tridentine Latin Mass(Divine Liturgy of St Pius V).

Strippers:
No, I am NOT talking about “Pennywhistles” in Astoria, Queens, which was a Strippers Joint, raided by the NYPD Organized Crime Control Bureau over a problem of Narcotics Sales. What is the problem in the Roman Rite Catholic Ordinary Form Mass, is that the Readings, especially in the Gospel, are stripped of most references to Sin. Also stripped of the Roman Rite Catholic Character in the NO Mass, is the Anticipation of Sacrifice of Christ in the Offertory Prayers, which changed from Prayers by the Priest for The Forgiveness of The Priest’s Sins and those of all Faithful Christians, Living and Dead, leaving out the Offering of The Unspotted Host(From Hostia, Latin for Victim), to a Passover Table Prayer, so as to please Protestants, who deny the Sacrificial Character of The Roman Rite Catholic Mass.
Yes, there are Strippers in the Catholic Church, but they strip the Sacrificial Character out of The Liturgy.

As far as that form of The Mass Readings is concerned, it came from an Anglican “Bishop.” Protestants do not have a Valid Eucharist, because of no Validly Ordained Priesthood, because Protestants also deny the Sacrificial Character of The Mass. So, extra Scripture Readings are fine for Protestants, but for The Catholic Church, there is a Sacrificing Priesthood and True Sacraments.

The Three Year Sunday Cycle of Readings was taken from a PROTESTANT Common Lectionary. Why are we imitating those who deny the Bloodless Sacrifice of Christ in the Mass of The Roman Rite? While the Tridentine Latin Mass and Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom have perpetual readings of Epistle and Gospel in the Continual Year, it should be understood that for those who participate in both Liturgies or one of either Liturgy, you do get the full reading of that Sunday, Holy Day of Obligation and Feast Day. There is nothing stripped. There are no disjointed readings in either Ancient Liturgy.

Imitating the Dissenters makes for Muddled Liturgy. Going with Traditional Catholic Liturgy is where the Fullness of Grace and Truth Truly Is. The NO Mass is a Banal Product of The Extremely Misguided Practice of Ecumenism, a form of promoting Indifference. False Faiths are NOT The One, True, Holy, Catholic Church. Only One was established by Christ. The Rest are of Man. Put that in your mind, that there is Only ONE, TRUE Church.

The Marty Dave Music Festival of “NO Mass”

OK, so I was at the NO Mass, called the Ordinary Form Mass, also known as the Ubiquitous Novus Ordo Missae. It is also why I appreciate the Tridentine Latin Mass and the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom.
You see, I was at a Knights of Columbus Council Installation of Officers Ceremony, which followed the Mass.
I recognized the Byzantine Rite  Elements, such as the Prayers of The Faithful as having its roots in The Great Litany of The 1st Antiphon of the Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom, except that an Organist accompanied the singing. I have since my 1st Byzantine  Divine Liturgy, preferred that it be sung without the Organ being played. This was the case yesterday. The Kyrie Litany was sung in Greek and English.

On “Derek Jeter Farewell Tour Sunday”, was a common Roman Catholic occurrence called “The Marty Dave Music Festival.” This “Festival”occurs on Sundays at the NO Mass, consisting of “Muzak” from the Mundane Compositions of Marty Haugen and David Haas, beginning with Marty Haugen’s “Classic”, “All Are Welcome”(Except for Christopher Ferrarra, Michael Matt, John Vennari, Louis Verrecchio and Michael Voris) and ending with a Song by David Haas, of which I have since forgotten the Title.

I once advised a Most Dear Friend that she has to go to Mass every Sunday and warned her about what is being touted as Liturgical Music. It almost turned her away from the Catholic Faith, especially since she is a convert from Greek Orthodoxy. The Muzak is syrupy and nauseating. I know what she is talking about, and more so since turning to the Tridentine Form Mass and Byzantine Rite Divine Liturgy. I now listen to two readings at those Liturgies, as opposed to the Mohrman Form with Old Testament, Responsorial Psalm, New Testament, Optional Alleluia or optional Tract and Gospel. Mohrman, an Anglican “Bishop”, came up with the new order of Scripture for the Mass of The current form in the Roman Rite. Since returning to the Tridentine Latin Mass and adding the Byzantine Rite to the practice of Sunday Mass, the Novus Ordo Missae seems like a practice which is foreign to me.

A trip to Holy Innocents looks to be what reorients me. The Novus Ordo, except at St Agnes on East 43rd Street(Venerable Archbishop Fulton J Sheen Place), where they “Read The Black and Follow The Red”, is done without the proper Solemnity, such as the use of Muzak which inspires Utter contempt.

So, Holy Innocents, Holy Cross Ukrainian and St. John’s Cemetery Chapel will be the places of reorientation. I prefer the Priest facing East, as he, as Alter Christus, leads us in the Worship of The Triune God.
