“Altar Server #64-Remembering February 22nd,1998, In Memorium, Renelyn & Brother Knight Priests”

6 Jan

As part of 1st Saturday of January, 2016, I went to The 5:00PM Mass at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Forest Hills, Queens. I picked up a Parish Bulletin, went to a Pew and Sat down. I looked inside for the Weekday Schedule of Masses for Monday, January 4th, 2016, during Christmastide. According to The Novus Ordo Mass Calendar, Christmastide ends with Baptism Of The Lord on Sunday, January 10th, from whence everything becomes Ordinary Time. In The Tridentine Latin Mass Calendar, Christmastide ends on The Feast Of The Presentation of The Child Jesus In The Temple, also called Candlemas Day. And Christmastide overlaps with Septuagesima, which goes into Lent on the Road to Easter.

A Name appeared for The 8:00AM Mass, one which takes me back to Sunday, February 22nd, 1998, between the end of The 10:00AM & 11:30AM Masses.
I was in the Second Half of my Second Term as Grand Knight of Monsignor Sherman Council Knights Of Columbus #5103 of East Glendale, Queens, a Council serving The Greater Glendale-Forest Hills Region of Queens.
See, Sunday, February 22nd, 1998, is the Council 5103 Date in History when the 1st Ever Knights Of Columbus Altar Server Awards occurred. And Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Forest Hills, Queens was the Parish. All Council & a Number of 5103 Building Corporation Officers were Present for this Historic 1st Ceremony.

Between 10:53AM & 11:22AM on Sunday, February 22nd, 1998, as Grand Knight, I was Master Of Ceremonies of The 1st Ever Altar Server Awards of The Knights Of Columbus. I was operating from the Sanctuary during the Ceremony. Past Grand Knights William J. Trace(1988-1990), William T. Trace(1990-1992), Jerry Rivera(1999-2001), George Aupperle(2001-2002), Donald Gander(2007-2009), and their Families were there, plus Treasurer Gerard Bollman & his Wife & Past Grand Knight Vincent Femenella & his Wife.

Frs Daniel Weiscopf & Thomas Murtaugh, both Brother Knights from other Councils, were assisting me. Fr Weiscopf died in Early 2015 & Fr Murtaugh passed on in 2000. Sixty Three Altar Servers received The K of C Altar Server Awards & 8 People received the K of C Council Awards of Merit. Altar Server Ashley Pillsbury, who was the Special Guest Soloist for the Council 5103 Memorial Mass For The Deceased Members in 1997 & Damien Hollingsworth, who also served as an Altar Server at that Same Mass, were honoured as part of The 8 Awardees receiving the Award Of Merit.

A couple of days later, while I was on break, I was in the old Baskin Robbins at Ascan Avenue & Austin Street, when a 5th Grader, an Altar Server named Amanda Kohut, spotted me & spoke to me, stating that I forgot to give an Altar Server Award to “Renarina Carino.”

It happened the next day at the same Baskin Robbins. Amanda gave me the same reminder. The Award arrived at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Rectory the next day, signed and sealed. Fr Weiscopf presented Renelyn with her award.
Here’s the thing is that I had NEVER Met Renelyn Joy Carino.
And her Sister Altar Server, Amanda Kohut, through Persistence, saw that Renelyn was honoured.
Thank You Amanda, so very much.

On This 6th Day of January, The Feast Of The Epiphany, in 2016, in Honour of The Altar Servers of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Forest Hills, Queens, Altar Server #64, Renelyn Joy Carino, now deceased(October, 2014), was remembered by me in Prayers at the 8:00AM Mass.
Sean O’Sullivan served at the 2nd Annual Appalachia Fund Mass & became the 3rd Council Award of Merit Winner, on Sunday, May 31st, 1998.
This was then, & is now, a great Altar Server Corps. Desmond Flynn directed The Corps in 1997-1998. His Successor, David James, was “One of The 64 Award Winners.”

“Purple For Spirit Day?”(Mass Of Reparation)

13 Oct

Spirit Day sounds so utterly haunted. It is so Pagan. To use a deep hue of Purple(Lavender) in a Secular Celebratory Sense, is a Celebration of Depravity, in this case being known as Intrisically Disordered Acts.
As the Traditional Day of The Commemoration of Christopher Columbus was actually celebrated on October 12th, there was Low Mass of Reparation on West 37th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan at Holy Innocents RC Church, when, as it was a Public Holiday, the Celebration of The Tridentine Latin Mass occurred at 1PM instead of at 6PM.
The Last Time I had gone to a Weekday Low Mass(Missa Lector) in Daytime, was when Lyndon Baines Johnson was the 36th President Of The United States Of America. That was on Friday, November 6th, 1964 in City Line, Brooklyn. That was at 11:00AM, when I was in Catholic ElementarySchool.
This Mass on Columbus Day was arrayed in Deep Hued Lavender for the purpose of being Penitential, for “Gloria In Excelsis Deo” was NOT OFFERED. And this was done as The Mass was offered “For Defence Of The Catholic Church & Faith”, as The Bride Of Christ is under attack, particularly in the Case of The “Synod Of Doom”(Credit Christopher Ferrara for calling it such).
As most people in this era would be surprised at a Tridentine Latin Mass at 1PM on a Weekday, Fr Leonard Villa, Pastor of Holy Innocents RC Church, had to explain the format. Foreign to most Massgoers of Today is receiving Holy Communion on the tongue, kneeling at the Altar Rail.

“O Mary Concceived Without Sin” was sung Three Times at the conclusion of Mass.

Deo Gratias!
