The “Live Feed” Grows On The Mobile

15 Nov

One does NOT often think beyond You Tube. In fact some people are stuck in the Year 2005, when it comes to Video.
But, this is beyond the You Tube Era. Vimeo, Dailymotion, You Tube, BlipNetworks(Defunct) & Viddler & AOL Video are about Old Video.
However, Google’s You Tube does go into the world of Live Video Streaming. But there are other services which hook into Facebook & Twitter &, lately, Yahoo Owned tumblr.
On Saturday February 7th, 2015, from a Smartphone running on Sprint’s 4G LTE Data Network, the 2nd Round of The Knights Of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship From Glendale, Queens, NY, was LIVE over Veetle.com, making this the 1st Ever Live Telecast over the Internet of The Knights Of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship, an event usually confined to You Tube, though in 2011, under my then Production Company, it was seen on You Tube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, BlipNetworks, Viddler & Ireland’s iVideo.ie. This was a break with the New Broadcast Tradition ofTube Tube ONLY. The use of Dailymotion gave The Round Two Competition, exposure on the Belgian Website of Europe’s Largest Private Broadcaster, RTL(Radio Tele Luxembourg). Greater exposure was on Vimeo & Not You Tube in 2011.
So, the Era of The Live Feed is here. In fact the most original world news coverage of events is coming via Smartphones, such as what occurred in Paris, also the Middle East & in Ukraine. Even coverage of Pope Francis in NYC was covered live on Smartphones.

I have 5 Live Video Streaming Apps, which can be deployed within seconds for Instant Live Video Streaming Feeds, hooked into Facebook & Twitter, with one hooked into tumblr as well. This makes mere Video Sharing Services Obsolete. Ustream, Veetle, Periscope, Twit Casting Live, Bambuser & Livecast, make everything so immediate. So does Stre.am. I find the Paris Coverage on Bambuser, Twit Casting Live & Peruscope to be a Breath of Fresh Air.

The Story Continues & Times have changed.

OVERRATED You Tube

4 Jul

Many People have absolutely No Idea about what is called “New Media.”
“New Media” is a changeover from the Prevailing Mainstream way of delivering Program Content and News. Much of this New Media is Independent, rather than controlled by Broadcast Networks and Studios.
At one time, Terrestial Television was carried into one’s home or school. It was live or film. And if you didn’t tune in at 8:00PM ET, that was it. You missed the show. There was no such bird as “Video On Demand.”
Prior to Television was Radio, operating in the same way as Television.

The Web changed all of that. So did Digital Cable TV and Video Recorders, prior to The Web or Internet. The Internet is the Land of Experimentation in Content Delivery.

Who Came First? Vimeo or You Tube?
If you said Vimeo, you must be a Whiz Kid, for it is in November, 2004, when Vimeo came about on the Island of Manhattan.
In March, 2005, Dailymotion premiered in France, ahead of You Tube. It was in April of 2005 that You Tube went into Beta.

Things changed even more when Apple Introduced The iPhone and Google introduced Android to Smartphones and Internet Appliances such as Tablets.

And now in this era, one can telecast live via the Web from a Smartphone to anywhere in the World on the web, without having
to wait to upload to Video Sharing Services. People were watching on Veetle, Ustream and Bambuser from Ukraine, and from the Middle East.

In fact, an Opera Rehearsal was being live telecast on Veetle in January, 2014 and People actually watched on the Web. It came from Forest Hills here in Queens. Live Internet Television including Replay, had arrived.

It took the 2011 Video Coverage of The Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship on Vimeo, Dailymotion, Blip Networks and You Tube, to show that these events don’t need You Tube to get viewers. Dailymotion was 4 To One over You Tube with Vimeo even higher than that. Blip Networks had higher 1st Round #s than all of the 4 Rounds of Coverage on You Tube. Yet to calm the “Soccer Moms From The Underworld” and their “Little Darlings”, a You Tube Feed was ordered and enforced with threats to the Producer on a Regular Basis. Their Egos, actually surpassing the Ego of one Mr Alex Rodriguez, are such that their “Little Darlings” will approach the Viewing Numbers of Justin Bieber, merely for shooting Basketballs from the Foul Line.

You Tube is so “2005”, hence Yesterday’s Tech.
You Tube, Overcrowded and OVERRATED!
