Of Awe & Of All Souls

I have been to All Souls Day Masses in The Ordinary Form of Mass, where the Names of The Faithful Departed would be read in the Litany of The Faithful. I have been to the Mass of The Resurrection(What the Novus Ordo Mass Name for Requiem Mass is called). Protestantism has affected The Sensus Catholicus in such a way that Death, Judgement, Heaven & Hell, are rarely spoken about. Purgatory, in Novus Ordo Land, is almost never spoken about, which Fr Villa Preached in a Brief Homily.
Fr Leonard Villa offered the Mass, aided by The Deacon, Fr Christopher Salvatori, who it has been said, taught many a Priest in The RC Archdiocese of New York, including Fr Villa, to offer The Tridentine Latin Mass. The Subdeacon was an Altar Server named Eddie. In The Roman(Latin) Rite, Subdeacon was an Ordained Order until 1968 when the Sacraments underwent changes.

This is called “Missa Memorium Pro Defunctis”, or Memorial Mass For The Dead. We get the word Defunct from Defunctis, so in reality, the Tridentine Latin Mass is not all that difficult to follow.

There are many chants including “De Profundis”, which the chant “Out of The Depths I Cry Unto Thee, O Lord.”
On the Catervault, a Coffin, covered with a Black Cloth with Religious Marking, is displayed. There were Rites for the Dead, chanted in this ceremony.
At the Conclusion, there was a Procession to the Sacristy.

As This Missa Solemnis occurred The Epistle, Gradual, Tract & Gospel are chanted in Latin, as is the case of the Normal Tridentine Latin Mass.
So to conclude this Mass, the Epistle & Gospel were read in English & the Brief but Incisive Homily was given by Fr Villa. And then we were dismissed. The Theme of November is Prayer For The Souls In Purgatory.

On the way out, I met a Three Compatriots from The Queens Latin Mass Group. It was Grand to meet up with them. One of them brought her son. Last Year at Douglaston, that woman drove me to Woodhaven Blvd and Jamaica Avenue.

A Blessing of a Holy Water Dispenser and Font took place, with Fr Christopher Salvatori celebrating The Blessing, done in Latin, followed by Hyssoping those Present, in the Foyer of Holy Innocents RC Church in Midtown Manhattan on West 37th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue.

It was a Night Of Awe & Prayers For The Dead.

Pray For The Souls In Purgatory, that they be admitted to The Beatific Vision of Heaven.

All Saints Day Tridentine Latin Mass & A “Marathon”

As My Most Dear Friend says, to which I heartily concur, the Liturgical Muzak at the Missa Novus Ordo, is Treacly and “Does NOT Draw In.” And so, as I make my journey via the IND Queens Blvd 6th Avenue F Train, running as a Local, I am making my way to Holy Innocents RC Church in Midtown Manhattan on West 37th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue, in order to avoid the Treacly Musical Creature called “Pukeasaurus Rex.” “Table Of Plenty” does not cut it, in English, nor Latin, as it is “Pure Schutte”, as in a former member of the St. Louis Jesuits, writers of Treacly Muzak, which could lead to rather lengthy queues at Parish Vomitaria, with varying waiting times.
After Mets 2nd Baseman Dan Murphy’s Imitation of Red Sox 1st Baseman Bill Buckner at Citi Field in Game 4 of the 2015 World Series, queues at the Citi Field Vomitariums were lengthy. Buckner at least had a major excuse, in that he was injured. Murphy realized that he is a Free Agent, and may have been careless. Cespides is an oversized Bobby Bonilla Type with little Mobility.
So hence I headed to Holy Innocents & heard Mass in Latin. The Epistle was from The Apocalypse According To St. John Apostle. The Gospel According to St. Matthew was The Beatitudes. Fr Leonard Villa, Pastor, offered the Mass.
As FOX Sports has a Super Day of Sports on the Schedule, with an NFL Game in London, UK at 9:30AM EST(The Clocks Went back an hour), at 1PM with the NY Football Giants & 4:15PM with Dallas, followed by Game 5 of the 2015 World Series between the NY Mets & KC Royals from Citi Field in Corona, Queens, beginning at 8PM Eastern, it will be a long haul for FOX Sports. As this is the 1st Sunday in November, ESPN is carrying the NYC Marathon at 10AM EST.

At 10:30AM EST, an Ecclesiastical Marathon occurred at Holy Innocents RC Church in Midtown Manhattan on West 37th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue, as it was The Tridentine Latin Mass for All Saints Day, lasting from 10:30AM to 12Noon, The Angelus in English, followed by a Coffee Hour which stretched until 2:30PM, followed by The Rosary(In English), Vespers for All Saints Day(Latin), and Vespers For All Souls Day in Latin.
Yes, The Race was long, but I am glad to have completed it. And I am Tired.

Missa Requiem Et Metropolitanus Novi Eboraci

I headed via IND E Train to 5th Avenue East 53rd Street to switch to the M Train to W34th Street 6th Avenue, so to go to a Rare Tridentine Missa Pro Defunctis, where the Priest, Deacon & Subdeacon are vested in Black Vestments.
This is a Requiem Mass(You Remember Requiem Masses), not a cheery celebration of a Man’s or Woman’s Life. For the Missa Novus Ordo is Too Humanistic.
Pro Defunctis means “For The Dead”, not “Pro Metropolitanus”(For The NY Mets, Who Defeated the KC Royals at Citi Field 9-3).
The Priest of The RC Archdiocese of New York, offered the Mass alone with Two Servers, both Males, as this is ALWAYS the case at the Tridentine Latin Mass. It was that Great Eastern Catholic Patriarch, St. John Chrysostom, Patriarch of Constantinople, who coined this Gem which applies here:
“Is It Tradition? Ask No More.”

For The Soul Of The Faithful Departed, whether a Member of “Ecclesia Triumphante”(In Paradisium), or “Ecclesia Purgatorio”(The Church Suffering), The Prayer of One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic, is of Fervent Supplication with the Chanting of Litanies, between The Epistle & Gospel. Those Living(Ecclesia Militante or Church Militant), are in Prayer & awed by This Litany. There are NO Guitarists singing a Responsorial Psalm, nor that Novus Ordo “Favorite”, “On Eagles Wings.”

At the end of The Last Gospel(The Incarnation), Father spoke of Our Relationship with God, coming via The Sacraments. He spoke in terms of Sunday’s NYC Marathon.
The Winners Finish The Race, and then they go to the Sidelines to root for the others to finish the race.
The Winners ARE “The Church Triumphant.”
We are NOT in This ALONE. It is NOT merely “Christ Is My Personal Savior”. We must Support One Another to The Ultimate Prize.

Metropolitanus Novi Eboraci Members did that Last Night. David Wright & Curtis Granderson built up and gave this support to The Team. And so did Fanaticae Metropolitanus build up their team, last night.

What Is Rarely Said In Novus Ordo Company

Sin, Hell and Purgatory are rarely mentioned, including in the Novus Ordo Version of Missa Pro Defunctis. That can also be said of Missa Memoriam in the Novus Ordo.
I was at a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Richmond Hill, Queens, for the Repose of The Soul of the Wife of an Active Member of the Ancient Order Of Hibernians.
It was a Celebration of the Woman’s Life. The Parish Church was packed to the Rafters. Beginning with a Novus Ordo Song, directed for the edification of The Assembly followed by Opening Prayers, it would be an experience not to be forgotten.
Both the “Ave Maria” and “Pie Jesus” were sung with Awe by a Young Lady. But what was Extremely Strange was the Responsorial Psalm, as that was sung to a Guitar, which I have never seen in my life at a Mass Of Christian Burial(Missa Requiem). The Farewell was “On Eagles Wings.”
Many received Holy Communion in the Hand, as it goes with Novus Ordo Territory.
The Neo Canonization is getting ridiculous at these Missae Novus Ordo. Prayer for The Soul of the Faithfully Departed is needed here.
For later in the day at Saint Matthias R C Church was a Tridentine Latin Mass. There, one could truly pray for the Departed’s Immortal Soul.Without Distraction.

The Major Error made in the Revision of The Offertory, was the Removal of The Prayers the Priest said for his Sins as well as for the the Souls of Both Living and Dead.
This was done in the “Spirit Of Vatican II”, so as not to offend Modernist Protestants, in the “False Ecumenism” infecting The Church, for the Last 50 Years, especially since Sunday, November 30th, 1969, when the Novus Ordo Mass was 1st Offered, Bad Translations and All.
In pleasing Modernist, Mainline Protestants, taking the Sacrifice out of The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass, was and still is affecting the Faith of Roman/Latin Rite Catholics until this very day.
