Sesame Street Now Is On HBO

In 1970, Sesame Street had its’ premiere in Prime Time on NBC. From there, it became a mainstay of PBS Stations in the USA.

Now, it’s on Home Box Office or HBO. Forty Six Years is a Long Time for a Children’s Show.

But then, Cable is no longer the exclusive home of HBO. The same can be said of Showtime. Both are are on Satellite Services. And in the age of the World Wide Web, one can watch on Big Box Computer, a Laptop, a Tablet or a Smartphone.

Suddenly, there is a fascination with the Small Screen. And one can carry this Small Screen in one’s pocket. There’s no need for a Big Box Television & one can view on demand, without being confined to any edifice.

Remember Palm & Windows Mobile?

I remember Palm & Windows Mobile. Both are what are called Personal Digital Assistants. This is often where you got your work done. Then you transferred your work to your work computer.

But it wasn’t always pleasant. You had to enter your information using a pencil like device called a Stylus, which didn’t always feel comfortable in one’s hand. There was no touch screen like there is today. The iPhone ushered in the Era of tapping in information, just by tapping your fingers on the screen. Windows followed Apple and then came Android. The old way was the same with Palm Powered and Windows Mobile Phones. And those same phones had to be attached to a main computer.
But now the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Windows Phones, Windows Tablets and Android Phones and Tablets are basically Mobile Computers, which are independent of Desktop and Notebook Computers. Apple began that trend in 2011.
I guess the Styli are being used for something else. Hors D’Oeurves anyone!
And one’s hands are free from the styli. And that must feel good.

The Era Of “Cord Cutting”

Who watches Traditional Television these days?
That Era is One of The Dinosaur, as Television can arrive via Mobile Device. Having watched “Imus In The Morning” on a Mobile Phone(Motorola Moto) a few years ago, before it was popular to watch without Cable Television Service, well those were experimental times.
The Experiment is over and now Reality has set in. Now Satellite Service Dish Network will be offering this over Mobile Devices. And it will be cheaper than Cable and Satellite. If DirecTV offers this, I may do the inexpensive package. No one will be tied to a Contract. And one will not be paying through the Nose. Your Mobile Phone or Tablet is your Television.
And it is about time. These Mobiles are Mobile Computers and Entertainment Centres on which one can view shows at your leisure and not when the Network tells you to. If ESPN is nationally carrying Major League Baseball, you can view it on a Mobile Device. CBS does this via App in regards to Prime Time Shows. There is also buying or renting from Google Play or iTunes.
On Amtrak to Boston, I viewed Pope Benedict at the World Trade Center Site, Live on MobiTV. I sometimes view CBC News The National via CBC News App. At the time of the Parliament Hill Massacre, I watched CBC News Live Coverage, Peter Mansbridge and All, Live for the 1st Time, as if I was in Montreal or Toronto or Vancouver, all from Home here in Queens over the Web.

iPad For Video, Beats Android & A Laptop

My plan is to keep the Android Mobile Phone, which at $38.11 per month+all those Wi Fi Spots, is a bargain from Sprint’s Virgin Mobile USA. All live video productions will come via the Android Mobile Phone.
But as far as shooting a Video, anything less than HD 720p, looks like it was shot with an old 8mm Home Movie Camera. The Movie Making Apps on Android tend to be amateurish by comparison to Apple’s iOS. Hence my plan will be to use an iPad 2 or an iPod Touch 4G. Both are nice, light and comparably inexpensive. Both also require Wi Fi, meaning trips to Mc Donald’s, Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, the Queens Public Library or the Midtown Manhattan Apple Store.
Two of my favorite apps are Splice Video Editor and iMovie For iPhone. When the Coverage of The 2011 Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Basketball Championship Round Two was produced, the Splice App made this production, part of which was aired on RTL.be, much easier to coordinate. In fact, the Production was outright fun to make. That has been missing from Android, though Android is great for sheer live telecasts.

Wegener Media, a place where I had purchased refurbished Macs, looks good for an iPad 2. It looks like I’ll be doing business with them again. I tend to trust Apple when it comes to Video Production. The Quality Shows.
